Program
Acquisition
T.E.N. actively
seeks outside programming relevant to all areas of the
school curriculum. When appropriate programming is
available from another producer, T.E.N. will acquire
rights to access and transmit their programs. Within the
next five years, T.E.N.'s infrastructure will provide
"on demand” access for teachers in the classroom to the
video library, courses for credit, and professional
development and training.
Through the convergence of technologies, program
designers will maximize the strengths of various mediums
of delivery, such as video transmission, on-line
intranet and internet. This will allow access to
information from multiple sources in the format that
best suits the individual needs of the learner.
Distance Learning is provided for
courses, training, and other instructional programming.
A cadre of master teachers from across the curriculum
and grade levels works with the staff to identify
critical areas of need and design and produce the
appropriate programming. Master teachers demonstrate
best practices and mentoring in any curriculum area or grade level.
Distance Learning can be made available to all students for an entire
course or portions of a course. Besides benefitting the
students, teachers would have the opportunity to be
mentored by the best models in the profession without
leaving their classrooms.
Professional development and training is available to
teachers and staff across the District via T.E.N., which
eliminates the need for travel on the part of presenters
or participants, assures a consistent message, and is
readily available on tape, DVD or on-line for absentees
or new employees.
T.E.N. works with other
organizations to meet the needs of the School District
of Palm Beach County. Our partnerships include: Florida
Atlantic University, South Florida Science Museum and
the Cuillo Center for the Arts. We have developed on-going
partnerships with these groups and many more in the
community. One of these collaborative projects is
"Celebrate South Florida," a monthly Emmy Award winning
program that covers a variety of topics. Each District
creates a seven-minute segment that covers a selected
topic and these three parts are edified together and are
aired throughout the Tri-County area.
