Project Transition
Project Transition
provides support and programs that help educate, encourage, and counsel
refugees in Palm Beach County. Our personalized assistance helps
refugees acquire critical English skills and training that can assist in
gaining employment and help in job advancement.
Services offered:
Regularly schedule, tuition-free classes to
assist in passing the Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) and
General Educational Development (GED) exams.
Computer training courses
One area we have found particular success in is the placement of trained professionals to assist in high need areas such as schools, hospitals and other health care facilities. Through training we have helped many medical professionals, forced to work in areas such as housekeeping and maintenance, transition back into the health care field. One of our Haitian doctors interning at a hospital expressed the feeling of many when she said,
“I feel alive again to be around people who are doing what I was doing in medicine in my country.”
Since its inception, Project Transition has serviced over 4,000 clients. Many were provided with subsidized childcare services, free English courses, vocational programs, computer training assistance, transportation, and translation and evaluation of diplomas and transcripts.
Project Transition is a catalyst that empowers adults, especially parents, with skills to improve employment and increase self-sufficiency.
